## Resume and Portfolio Building for Digital Marketing

Your resume should make relevant skills easy to identify. Your portfolio should show how you approach a problem, what you produced and how you would measure success.

### Resume structure

1. **Contact and links:** Use professional contact details and links that work.
2. **Summary:** State the target role, relevant strengths and experience level in a few specific lines.
3. **Skills:** List tools and methods you can genuinely use, grouped by relevance.
4. **Experience:** Describe your contribution, scope, tools and outcomes where verified.
5. **Projects:** Include practical work, coursework or self-initiated examples, clearly labelled.
6. **Education and certifications:** Include relevant qualifications and completion status accurately.

### Write evidence-based bullets

Use the pattern: action + scope or method + purpose or verified result. For example: “Audited 25 landing-page elements, prioritised usability issues and documented recommendations for the next optimisation cycle.” Do not invent revenue, traffic, conversion lifts or client names. If a project is simulated, state that clearly.

### Portfolio project ideas

- SEO audit with severity, evidence and recommended fixes.
- Keyword map and content brief for a defined audience.
- Social media calendar with objectives and creative examples.
- Paid campaign plan with targeting, budget assumptions and conversion measurement.
- Email lifecycle map with triggers, consent and suppression rules.
- Analytics dashboard with a data dictionary and caveats.

### Present each project

Include the brief, audience, constraints, research, your role, deliverables, measurement approach and lessons learned. Separate actual results from forecasts or illustrative data. Remove confidential customer information and obtain permission before showing client work.

### Final checklist

- Tailor the resume to the job description.
- Use consistent dates, headings and formatting.
- Check spelling, links and mobile readability.
- Keep the strongest and most relevant projects first.
- Prepare to explain every claim in an interview.
